Modern Telescopes

Telescopes have been used for hundreds of years and the development is largely contributed to Galileo. It was first said to be developed in 1611 and was named by "The Telescope" by a Greek poet - Theologian. This original that was created is still largely what people associate with when they think of telescopes but it is a far way from what modern telescopes are like.
Modern telescopes are based on a Catadioptrics design which was developed by German Bernhard Schmidt. It's based on a combination of refractor and reflector telescopes. This design is used in a range of scopes from small backyard telescopes to professional observatory models. These modern models gather light through it's front objective lens, focus the light, then the eyepiece magnifies the image to the size of your pupil.

  1. Modern Telescopes are astounding when you think how far they have come. From the humble beginnings a piece of curved glass at the end of a cylinder that was used to spot ships on the horizon, to the modern mega telescope of today.

Galileo used an early telescope to look at the sky and he was able to see the moons of Jupiter and the sun spots. Today telescopes are able to see areas of the cosmos that are billions of light years away.

  2. The development of the telescope can be mark as a scientific break through. It have been used in many scientific and educational observations. Knowledge garther from the use of the telescope have helped advance society in many ways. Today telescope are place into space for many different reasons: military, education, economy, scientific, health and communication. Modern telescopes continuous contribution to the good and development of society in many ways remains unquestionable.

  3. I actually have for on the modern telescopes, their totally awesome; when you look up into space your mind will be blown away. Looking up from the ground without a telescope is cool, but when you look up into space and have a telescope, the first thing that comes to mind is thank you for advanced science, and art

  4. I can't remember the last time that I have looked through a telescope, probably when I was a kid was the last. It's really neat how technology has changed in making telescopes, and its probably just going to get better and better as well all because of science.

  5. Telescopes have gone even further than that. Think of the Hubble Space Telescope. That has answered countless questions and raised even more new ones. The technology and precision that goes into a modern telescope is outstanding. Society constantly wants to advance itself and this includes technology and science. Because of the this drive we have tools like telescopes that fly around the earth in outer space. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

  6. Telescopes have gotten really strong. Its amazing how far we can see in the sky. I feel like telescopes. It's amazing how light can make you so far in the skies. Can not wait for future telescopes.
